GenCon Day 2!!

It’s day 2 of GenCon, and boy are my knees and ankles aware of it.  You know, for the amount of crap we nerds get for being out of shape, I’d like to see some of the “normals” do the amount of walking and general standing around that GenCon requires.  Often even while wearing heavy-ass backpacks, or carrying giant cosplay props.  In a gigantic throng of people.  Do I really need to go back to that picture of the doors from yesterday?

I’m going to start off today with a picture of Nicholas Briggs, the guy who does the voice of the Daleks in Doctor Who.  Because he is awesome, and because I can.  Because he was at the show today.  And also as a reminder that the new series for Doctor Who starts NEXT WEEK!!  Okay, here’s the picture:

Nicholas Briggs

Exterminate!!

This was probably the highlight of my day.  The rest of it was mostly filled with waiting and disappointment…and for once, I’m not talking about my love life.  No, I don’t like that joke either.  No, it’s not as much of a joke as it is a sad commentary on my life that hits a little closer to home than I’d like.  Yes, you’re just going to have to put up with my bad jokes and bucket of unhappy.  If you can deal with that, join me after the jump for some more good stuff, and then some talk about my biggest problem with the convention and why this will be a shorter recap today…

But after the jump. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

It’s GenCon!!

Hi there!  Greymattersplat here.

Yeah, I know, we haven’t met yet, and I’m sorry for that.  It’s always nerve-wracking when your friend asks you to write stuff on his website, and you don’t really know what to write.  So I’d kinda been holding for this past weekend’s GeekGirlCon, for which I was there working for GrayHaven Comics, but thanks to a hotel not wanting to give me back some money, and a 750-watt power supply that decided to pick THIS EXACT TIME to stop functioning in my main PC, life has apparently just wanted to kick me in the nuts this week.  I still owe you all a writeup of GeekGirlCon, and you’ll get it.  It was a really great show, and I’d like to think I have some things to say about it…but that’s not what you want to hear about right now.

No.  This one’s all about GenCon!

First off, let me say this: GenCon is BIG.  If you’ve never been there before, I’m not sure I can accurately describe to you just how amazingly huge in scope this thing has become.  Maybe this will help put things into perspective for you:

The GenCon Crowd

Aren’t you glad you use Dial?

Comic Con a bust Gen Con here we come!

AYTIWS and Chewy!

Comic Con Chicago 2012 did not happen for me this year but it wasn’t from lack of trying. A week ago I had come to the conclusion that there was no way I had the time or extra funds to make the trip alone to the windy city but last-minute a friend showed interest in going with me. Out of excitement I scraped the money together and purchased my ticket ahead of time to save the $10 at the door and come Saturday my Comic Con buddy went MIA. I still haven’t heard from him and hope everything is alright and hope he contacts me before Gen Con since I have a press pass waiting for him there. Regardless it sucks that I missed it but it has allowed me more time to focus on the real convention GEN CON! Ironically enough on the other side of the country both David DeMoss (@AYTIWS) and Mike (@GreyMatterSplat) were at Geek Girl Con in Seattle Washington. I had really hoped that they could meet up but unfortunately it didn’t work out. In the future we have plans to all do the Traumatic Cinematic Show together which will be a blast. Those two guys nerdiness make me look like a prep! Also the photos you see on this page are ones taken by David DeMoss at Geek Girl Con.

Speaking of the Traumatic Cinematic Show I have decided to take a break until after Gen Con passes. I have had some minor issues with co-hosts running off and bettering their lives (you know I mean that is a good way right?) and I really want to change the show up a bit since it is getting close to a year old. Hopefully I will get some good audio from Gen Con this weekend and toss a recap show together with all sorts of fun people and topics. I know for sure I will have hundreds of new pictures for the photo gallery so look forward to that.

Make sure that you are following our Facebook page because that is where the most current updates will be while we are at Gen Con August 16-19. If you are like a lot of people and HATE FB you can get the same updates on my Twitter account @GenXnerd. All posts on our Facebook page repost to Twitter so pick the lesser of the two evils.

Chicago Comic Con 2012

There are only hours left before we depart on our 4 hour road trip to Chicago for Wizards World’s Comic Con. I was beginning to think that I was going to miss it this year until a fellow GenXnerder (xCherubiMx)  stepped up and offered to ride with me. Last year was the first Comic Con I had attended and I hope to take what I learned from it and apply it to covering this years convention better. I am excited to have the chance to use my Canon 60d again and capture some great cosplay photos to add to the galleries on this site. Unfortunately funds are tight so I doubt I will be able to PAY the sci-fi stars for pictures but life goes on. If I had any ability to plan long-term I would have gotten a 4 day pass, hotel, and attended multiple panels. I also would have applied for a press pass but since they use snail mail (really who buys stamps) I neglected to send the form in. I did however get press passes for GenCon which I am much more excited about.

GenCon Countdown

I just can’t hardly wait for Gencon 2012 to get here and I am counting the days down till it is here. In 9 days 30,000+ people will arrive in my home town of Indianapolis prepared to game till their eyes burn. This year I hope to pick up a couple card games like Fantasy Flight’s Cthulhu and I might possibly pick up some Magic the Gathering decks and partake in some open play. I know for sure that I am going to grab the new expansions for Twilight Creation’s  Zombies!!! game and absolutely check out anything else new they have available. There is just SO many games that I would like to buy and play but time is short and well games ADD up quick. I have already put one of our older cars up for sale hoping to pocket some extra spending cash. I have even gone as far as looking into purchasing a kilt to wear one day but to my surprise kilts are VERY expensive and not in the budget at this time. I did send an email offering free promotion at Gencon in exchange for rental or keeps from Utilkilts.

Don’t think that I am only after the big companies games at this show… I am going to be on the look out for all the new independent games making their first appearance at GenCon. These people are the life force that drive the industry because they are all gaming fans before becoming game creators. I hope to pick up a couple of sleepers and even talk to/ interview some of these underground heroes.

For those of you that are long time followers of the Traumatic Cinematic show I want to mention that I know we have been sporadic with the shows recently and I am working on a long-term fix to mend this issue. It has been tough with everything going on and my main partner Dave (Manifesto) has all sorts of great things going on in his real life right now preventing him from spending the time tinkering with this digital life. I am happy for him and hope he can find time again to be on the show but if not we will be parting as friends still and I will always have an open mic for him to sit in on any recording we do.

They Live cover overhaul!

I typically hate Facebook with the family and friends expecting you to share and chronicle every step of your personal existence but today it reminded me of one of the special things. You know those moments when you went out of your way to friend an artist that share with the world something spectacular they have created. Well Tom Hodge from Dude Designs revamped the cover for John Carpenter’s 80′s classic They Live staring Rowdy Rowdy Piper. Not only did Mr. Hodge rock the cover but he once again kept it soaking in total 80′s flavor!

Rant-a-lant-a-dingdong

- Alright first off is it is super douchy to delete a Facebook post with a nice interesting comment string because you want, plan, or hired out others to write a post about it on your website.

- I wish Chick-fil-A and The Muppets would team up and put a bun around and deep fry some of the Muppets. I bet not only would they taste like a cross between heaven and a sweaty mans hand I would no longer care what stance they took on ANYTHING! I would kiss a goat for some Kermit the frog legs on a bun in Chick-Fil-A’s batter!

- Never allow a movie with Michael Jackson to be played on your Twitter Movie gang night. NEVER!

- When receiving a penis enlargement make sure the donor is human. Donkey cock while huge is threatening to a new partner.

- Podcasting is only important to the host that is podcasting… no one else cares, or at least it seems.

- Cucumbers are more than just sex toys… They are great when soaked in vinegar.

- Those who seem like friends online most likely are just really clever bots.

- Just when you think you have a grasp on reality she inserts her index finger.

- The public would rather not see anyone masturbate on a bus regardless of their attractiveness.

- Dave “Couch Cutter” Anthony gives great hand jobs when his finger warts are under control.

- The worst part about going to half a dozen conventions in just a few months is wearing holes in the knees of your jeans sucking all the famous peoples cock for a moment of recognition.

- The worst part about being out of prison is having to pay for sex.

- I can do things with cucumbers that you would never imagine. I can turn them into pickles, relish, even make them into a nice farmers salad!

- To me Twitter is easy and fun but Facebook is like anal sex. I will do it but don’t expect me to brag about it or make it a daily event!

DEAR GOD YES! WIN A PAIR OF HORROR STARLET, MADELINE BRUMBY’S USED PANTIES!

by mugumbo on July 23, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Yep! You read that correctly! YOU may win a pair of Madeline’s panties. Check out the awesome and hilarious press release for details:

Atlanta – July 18th, 2012 – Greedy noses rejoice! They survived bikers, waterfalls and Bigfoot! Will they survive your untamed thirst? The smut peddlers behind the cult drive-in throwback DEAR GOD NO! are proud to announce an exciting new contest offering the raincoat crowd a chance to win the bloody screen used panties of glamorous exploitation star Madeline Brumby. Stripped off her bare naked figure at an undisclosed exotic location and sealed for maximum freshness these undies promise all the heavenly taboos needed to fill the darkest of carnal desires. By purchasing any item off the Big World Pictures Ebay store from July 23rd to September 23rd, perverts will automatically be entered in a chance to own, wear and fondle a soiled piece of sin-sational cinematic history.

“I’m clean but theses desirable panties are very dirty. Unashamed and raw they need more than a delicate rinse. It’s going to take a really big washer to handle this filth”, says young Madeline.

Winner of multiple “Best Exploitation Film” and “Audience Favorite” awards, DEAR GOD NO! follows outlaw motorcycle gang The Impalers through a murder spree that ends in a home invasion gone terribly wrong when they attack two graduate students, a disgraced Anthropologist and his teenage daughter played by America’s starlet Madeline Brumby. A demonic creature in the woods, a deadly secret in the basement, rivers of blood and abundant nudity add to the surprises that have been thrilling genre fans across North America.

“We originally wanted to present the film in Odorama so I’m touched that one lucky sinner will have an opportunity to explore the lowest depths of human sensuality in this new form of explicit audience to screen interaction”, says director James Bickert.

A sequel to Dear God No! titled Frankenstein Created Bikers is currently in preproduction. The lonely, deprived, thrill-hungry and curious can enter this ribald contest at http://myworld.ebay.com/bigworld2012 Every entry will receive a bumper sticker, a hand signed clean bill of health from Dr. Marco and a pleasurable voodoo curse. Contest rules: Must be 18 years of age to enter. Employees of Big World Pictures are not eligible. Contest is not associated with Ebay. This collectible piece of screen used memorabilia is stained with stage blood and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Garment complies with United States health and postal regulations. For additional film details, visit www.deargodnomovie.com.

Holy shittoast! There isn’t much left to say, is there?
